Good Afternoon World!!!!  Hope you all have been well.  I pray that since my last post some of you have made decisions to live for Christ and others are on the verge of going deeper in Him.  This morning I spent some time in my school’s library digging through various biblical commentaries and other books to help me complete my paper.  I have to write a paper for my Hermeneutics class on Genesis 16:1-4.  Sounds easy, but it’s not.  My professor is in no way interested in “our opinion” of the scripture.  We are to consult every resource/scholar known to man (lol) and pull from their expertise to construct our paper.  Oh, by the way, it has to be between 20-25 pages.  Thank the Lord I love what I study because if this was any other subject, I would be pulling out what little hair I have.  What’s so fascinating about this process is all the scholars, pastors and ministers writings I get to read.  There writings have helped grow in a tremendous way.  I thank Dr. Mapes for his sound advice he gave us on studying.  I’m paraphrasing, but he said for us to consult as many theologically sound resources when can get our hands on when it comes to studying a passage of scripture or topic.  This is to make sure that when we write or preach the passage God has given us, we are in line with Bible.  He told us that the last thing we want to do is put our own interpretation on scripture.  We as students of the bible need to study to pull out the authors true meaning of the scripture and communicate that to our audience.  Consulting other biblical resources helps us do that.  Well, I know this was a mouthful but hopefully it was helpful.  God Bless Until We Meet Again.

Seminary

Well World, I’m back.  I thought today I would comment on my experience in Seminary.  I must say without hesitation that I absolutely LOVE my seminary.  For those who don’t know, I attend Luther Rice Seminary.  It’s a little small school located in a suburb of Atlanta.  I haven’t been there long, but what I’ve learned in this short amount of time is priceless.  So far I’ve been taught on how to properly interpret the Bible, how ministry should operate from salvation to servanthood, how to balance ministry and family, how to stand firm on what you believe, etc.  This school is definitely giving me the tools I need to be an effective minister and I’m not even half way through the completion  of my degree. (Master of Divinity)  I would HIGHLY recommend this school for those who are seeking to be equiped for the ministry or those who just want dig deeper into God’s word.  I am truly thankful for this opportunity to attend and looking forward to how God is going to take what He has allowed me to gain and use it for His purpose.  The schools website is www.lru.edu.  Check it out when you get a chance.  I’m almost sure you will not be disappointed.  Take care until we meet again.

Philippians 4:11-12

The Apostle Paul said he has learned to be content in all things. What does it mean to be content? The dictionary defines content as being satisfied. Can we honestly say have taken on that same mannerism when faced with uncertainty and troubling circumstances? How is our attitude when we are financially challenged? How is our attitude when we are temporarily unemployed? How is our attitude when we are hungry? How is our attitude when little minute things such as our GPS breaks or our cell phone starts acting up? Do we take on the same attitude as Paul or do we act out of character, throw tantrums and get mad at God. Once again, to be content means to be satisfied. In other words no matter what I’m faced with within a day, be it the good, the bad, or the ugly, I will not allow my current circumstance to determine my attitude.  I also believe what paul really wanted us to grab from this passage of scripture is that God is in control. If I do lose my job, or my marriage is on the rocks, or my grades slip in school, God is in control. I encourage you, do not allow yourself to become flustered based upon current circumstances. Take on the same attitude that the Apostle Paul did and say, no matter what happens I will remain content (satisfied) because God is in control and all things work together for the good to them that love Him and are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). May God Bless You on today and keep Growing in HIM!!!!!!

Good Morning World!  Well, unfortunately I’m sick today.  I really hate being sick and the reason why is because it limits me from doing things.  For anybody who knows me, I am a constant mover.  I have to stay busy, and when I’m slowed down by uncontrollable circumstances, it’s frustrating.  It’s really frustrating especially on a day such as Sunday, because the family and I wanted to go to church.  My oldest son really likes Sunday School.  Odd, but cool.  I thought he would fall in love with Children’s Church which is the children’s special service they have during the regular worship service, but he doesn’t.  He hasn’t cared much for Children’s Church since he went about 2 years ago and they show a movie called “Bibleman”.  Whatever was in that movie startled him and he’s been wanting to go to regular service with us ever since.  That’s ok, but I still make him go to Children’s Church ever so often because I want him build relationships with other Christian kids.  I think that’s important.  I believe it’s a lot easier to live out your faith when you have people that’s living it out with you in the same age group.  I know that’s what helped me when I became a more serious Christian.  Notice I said “more serious”.  I accepted Christ in my life when I was 16, but did not start taking serious steps to live out my faith until I was 18 and went off to college.  It was there God connected me with a group of Christian friends, that helped me grow in my relationship with HIM.  So my prayer, is that our sons will establish a relationship with HIM  at an early age, while they are young kids and not teens or adults, so that hopefully they will not have to fall victim to some of the foolish stuff I did.    Now, how I got off on this subject is beyond me, but hopefully it will encourage you to pray for children to establish a relationship with God at an early age as well.  Take care world.  Hopefully, I’m feeling better tomorrow.
